Perspectives of User Experience

What is actually the proper definition for User Experience?

Concerning this certain article I would just borrow the term as explained in Wikipedia: “User experience refers to a person’s emotions and attitudes about using a particular product, system or service.”

Let’s follow some examples: Apple’s iMac, Lumia Windows phones, PlayStation Vita, Apple’s iWatch, all devices offer a holistic environment regarding both software and hardware in order to achieve certain levels of User Experience.

Interestingly, most of those who make use of the term of User Experience are engaged to the design and development of graphical user interfaces. One of the reasons could be the fact that GUI design is one of the most dramatically advancing area of design and technology, for at least now and definitely for the near future. Within the last 40 years, the old black-backgrounded screens with green digits have been replaced by flexible, transparent, touchable, interactive surfaces.

Though, there are out there further major creative areas which address the needs of end users and which they have to build an experience for them.

These areas just do not make use of the term of user experience directly, virally or in that large sense and scale as software or web. Product design, industrial design, automotive design and architecture, are few of such major areas.
